Our Leadership

  • Scott Belsley - Lead Pastor/Elder

Scott is married to Debbie, who grew up in Maryland, and together they have four children: Nathan, Lydia, Elise, and Jacob. A native of southeast Michigan, Scott graduated from Wayne State University in 1999. For nearly 20 years, the Belsley family served the Lord in Afghanistan (2004–2008) and Turkey (2009–2024), most recently with Reaching & Teaching International Ministries (RTIM). While in Turkey, Scott was privileged to serve as an elder in two congregations: one among Persian-speaking Iranians, the other among English-speaking expatriates at Çankaya Baptist Church. Those experiences helped prepare Scott to lead a church planting effort upon the Belsleys’ return to Michigan, even as he continues to encourage and equip Persian speakers through RTIM.

Scott is a graduate of Columbia International University and the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (MDiv). He enjoys studying the life and writings of 18th century British pastor Andrew Fuller under the tutelage of Dr. Michael Haykin.

  • Doug Cousino - Pastor/Elder

Doug and Sharon Cousino were married in 1983. They have five adult children and 12 grandchildren. The Cousinos lived and ministered in Detroit proper for nine years before moving to the Arabian Peninsula in the summer of 1992. Their busy family life was blended with an academic platform engaging indigenous and near-culture peoples. Travel to many countries in Asia Minor, the Indian subcontinent, and Africa brought richness to the family's experience of living overseas, their hearts motivated centrally by the Great Commission.

In the summer of 2018, Doug and Sharon returned to the U.S., settling in Charlotte, NC. As members of Oakhurst Baptist Church, they participated in ESL as well as international, discipleship, and tutorial ministries. The Cousinos returned to live in the Detroit area in July of 2024, and Doug retired from his work in the marketplace in the fall of that year.
